WWE Wrestlemania 5 Legends Andre The Giant vs Jake The Snake Roberts Riv...

More wrestling vids...

Back when wrestling was good....

If you're an old school wrestling fan like I am, then you'll probably remember these 2 legends in wrestling...Rowdy Roddy Piper and Bret the Hitman Hart. Wrestlemania 8 was at the peak of wrestling at its best times. This particular video is a promo of the Bret Hart and Roddy Piper rivalry.

This in the days when WWE was the WWF (stupid name change for stupid reasons, it should have stayed WWF, it was way cooler. ). You could actually take your children to a wrestling match in those days and watch it on Saturday mornings with your kids.

I watched it ALL the time when I was 5 yrs. old. My mom even has a cassette tape with me saying, "Ric Flair and Jimmy Garvin." Thats all I said, I was 2 when it was taped..hehe.

I really missed the old school days of wrestling. I'm so glad their putting these matches back on DVD now.

This video is for all of you fellow wrestling fans! ENJOY!

Ooops...

Um, well, I have had a nasty cold going on nearly a week now. Well, I got up this morning and took 2 TBS. of Delsym (Equivalent to 30mL). BAD MISTAKE- the bottle plainly says to take 10mL in a 12 hour period, do NOT exceed 20mL in a 24 hour period. How dumb am I? As usual, I read the directions AFTER I took the medicine.
Word to the wise: read instructions CAREFULLY before taking OTC meds. Result if you don't: TOTAL FATIGUE and NO energy! This may not sound like a bad side effect, but it is! I can do my laundry or another household chore for about 5 minutes and I have to sit down. While I was in the shower, I kept getting dizzy and had to cut my shower short. I went IMMEDIATELY to the bed and took a nap. My body feels like it weighs a TON.
Such a stupid move on my part. I totally don't understand why anyone would want to OD on purpose!
One may ask, why I share this experience with you? So you WON'T make the same mistake I did.

-A very tired Country Girl

PS: Delsym contains dextromethorphan, which is an antitussive, that works by decreasing activity in the part of the brain that causes coughing. Not to mention, it decreases brain activity for mobility if you overdose on the stuff...UGH!

Sickly and other random things...

This icky cold has been kicking my tail-feathers since Wednesday morning....UGH! Sorry, I just had to complain didn't I? Well, I had to miss church today too...another UGH. I was really looking forward to doing the leprosy craft with the kids! :(
This cough is really gettin on my nerves, cause its hurting my back now! JOY! Ok...enough complaining.
Since I was home today I did read Exodus 26-28, and the 1st chapter of Jeremiah. I know thats a random combination, but I am going thru the OT again. I finished Genesis and am working on Exodus now. At the end of my Exodus reading today, I felt the urge to read Jeremiah. My sis is going thru Jeremiah with her kids and they read it in Spanish first, then in English...so cool to hear them do that. :) After that I have wanted to dig back into Jeremiah myself, so I started today. I just put it off cause I really wanted to get some of my other Bible reading done/caught up first.

Well, as I have shared with my DS, I am reading "The House of Seven Gables" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. As I anticipated, its a disappointment so far, just hope it ends with SOME redeeming quality. :( Hawthorne is a classic author, but I really don't understand why at all. The world likes depressing novels maybe? At least if Dickens gets depressing, his is still interesting to read.

I started chapter 15 earlier in the week, when I had the strength to bare it. hehe I think I'll attempt it again this evening, since this is my day of rest. Not to mention, I have to get in my Bible reading time in good before I start it or else I feel convicted over wasting my precious time. :)

Well, off to do more reading and laying around. Pray for us here. Feel free to post any prayer requests you may have below this post.

The Happy Goodmans - Im Living in Canaan Now

AIN'T NO GRAVE (Can Hold My Body Down) ...

This is the song I was talking about in my previous post. My great-grandpa sang this song. He had a raspy voice, similar to how Johnny Cash sounds here. (Expect my grandpa had more soul...hehe. I like grandpa's version better of course. (: )

I just wanted to share this song with ya'll.

Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton - Daddy Was An Old Time Preach

My great-grandpa, Henderson, was an old time preacher man. This song reminds me of him. He passed away before I was born, but I have a tape of him preaching and singing, "Ain't No Grave Gonna Hold my Body Down." I heard my daddy sing this song once and it gave me chills, cause he sounded so much like Grandpa Henderson.

I love to hear Dolly and Porter sing this song! Dolly Parton is one of my all time favorite singers! I'm so glad I was raised on this music. :)

Carolina In My Mind

Another favorite from Alison Krauss. I love her version of this waaayyyy better than James Taylor's. When I have went away from home for a fews days and miss NC, this song comes to mind. :)

(I really share my father's love for the dobro. Its such an amazing instrument that pulls so many emotions out of a song! Jerry Douglas is so talented!)

Alison Krauss Simple Love

I love this song! It reminds me of my family so much!

Ephesians...

I love Ephesians chapter 6! Perhaps, it is one of my most favorite pieces in scripture! When I have went through times when the adversary was fighting his hardest against me, these scriptures help me soooo much!
Praise the Lord that we have the WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD! Thank you Lord today for your precious HOLY WORD!

GOD...THE ARTIST

There is something that I have learned about art. It takes many forms and I have found the reason why. Art can be a release of emotion. For some, it can be an ever faithful companion. When you cannot put into mere words what you want to say then you can paint it on a canvas, sing it in a song, act it out on stage, play its melody on an instrument of choice, or even perhaps stir it into a home-cooked meal. But, who created art? Was it just always there? How did it develop if it had a begininng? Here is the answer...
God created art. It has always been, because God has always been. It has no beginning or end, because God has no begininng or end.
God gave us this gift we call art. After all, the greatest artist of all time created us! Look at the complexities of the human body, the leaves on the trees (how they change their colors), or even the waves of an ocean. The creation glories its maginificent Creator! God not only took the time to create such artisitic forms, but He loved His masterpiece so much that He was willing to pay the greatest price for it. He "took us off the market," so to speak. Rather than just putting us out on display for the highest bidder, He kept us to Himself. We are not merely an item for purchase, but jewels in God's gallery. The human soul is God's most prized possesion. Rather than just placing us on this earth to give Him pleasure and companionship, He made a way so that we may have eternal life in Heaven with Him. How wonderful God is!
Michaelango, Picasso, Courbet, or any number of famed artists cannot hold a candle to the greatest artist of all time-ALMIGHTY GOD!
